Ties line to a hook, lure or swivel, using the line doubled.
- Use
- Line to hook or lure
- Lines
- Monofilament, Fluorocarbon
- Difficulty
- Easy
White: the line to your reel. Orange: the tag end, the part you move. Mirror flips the drawing for tying left-handed.
Steps
Double about 15 cm of line to make a loop, and push the loop through the eye of the hook.
Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line. Leave it loose, with the hook hanging from it.
Pass the loop over the whole hook.
Wet the knot, pull the standing line and the tag end together so the knot closes on the eye. Trim the tag end.
Tips
- Wet the knot before you pull it tight.
- Awkward with big lures or lures with several trebles, because the whole lure has to pass through the loop.
