White: the line to your reel. Orange: the tag end, the part you move. Mirror flips the drawing for tying left-handed.
Steps
Pass about 15 cm of line through the eye and lay the tag end back alongside the standing line.
Bring the tag end back toward the eye, over both lines, to make a loop beside them.
Wrap the tag end around both lines and through the loop 5 or 6 times (4 in heavy line), working away from the eye.
Wet the knot and pull the tag end to close the wraps into a neat coil.
Pull the standing line so the knot slides down to the eye. Trim the tag end.
Tips
- Wet the knot before you pull it tight.
