White: one line. Grey: the other line. Orange: the tag end being tied. Mirror flips the drawing for tying left-handed.
Steps
Overlap the ends of the two lines by about 15 cm, pointing in opposite directions.
With one tag end, make a loop back across both lines and wrap the tag around both lines, through the loop, 5 or 6 times (about twice as many in braid).
Pull that tag end to close the first knot. Do not slide it yet.
Tie the same knot with the other tag end, around both lines, facing the other way.
Wet both knots and pull the two standing lines apart so the knots slide together. Trim both tag ends.
Tips
- Use about twice as many turns in braid as in monofilament.
- Wet both knots before you slide them together.
