- Lines
- Monofilament, Fluorocarbon, Braid, Wire
- Difficulty
- Takes practice
White: one line. Grey: the other line. Orange: the tag end being tied. Mirror flips the drawing for tying left-handed.
Steps
Bend the end of the heavier line back to make a loop.
Feed about 25 cm of the lighter line through the loop, and pinch all three strands just behind the loop's end.
Wrap the lighter line's tag back over itself and both sides of the loop, working toward the loop's end: about 10 tight turns.
Feed the tag end back through the loop so it comes out on the same side it went in.
Wet the knot, work the turns toward the loop's end without letting them slip off, and pull the lighter line and its tag to close it. Pull both lines hard, then trim both tag ends.
Tips
- Made for lines of very different diameter or material: mono to braid, mono to wire, backing to fly line.
- Wet the knot before you pull it tight.
