White: the line to your reel. Orange: the tag end, the part you move. Mirror flips the drawing for tying left-handed.
Steps
Make a loop near the end of the line by taking the tag end round and behind the standing line.
Bring the tag end round in front of the first loop to make a second, smaller loop lying on top of it.
Pass the tag end across, between the two loops, and hold it there.
Reach through the first loop and pull the second loop through it.
Pull the loop, not the tag end, until the knot jams. Trim the tag end, which should stand out at right angles.
Tips
- Wet the knot before you pull it tight.
